* If your child is in between the ages of 5 and 17, practice attachment parenting, where you should communicate with your child. Ask him/her about their days at school and the activities that they like to do in school.
* Encourage, their extra interests like acting, sports, dance or any other activity. Don’t stop them from doing what they love as that will result in you being perceived negatively and you will loose control over your child.
* Improve your own self confidence by moving on from your past and being an open-hearted person. Discuss your problems with close friends and family and learn to take life the way it is. When you do this your child will take an example from you and try to imitate your positive behavior.
* Try to spend as much time you can with your children, as this way you can guide them with their curriculum and school activities. Give your child the confidence that they can trust you with their problems and short comings.
* Be supportive of his/her views and teach them the difference between the good and the bad and make them feel special and wanted as you are the only person a child can confide in.
* If your child has an illness, don’t make him feel handicapped or disabled. Let him socialize with other kids and encourage his activities. Read more on instilling confidence in children.
